Important information

How much walking is there?

We cover about 1.5 miles at a leisurely pace. If mobility is an issue, please arrange for a private tour.

Is food or drink included?

We’ll have at least one tasting in La Boquería market, but you'll also have some time to purchase food items at markets along the way if you wish. Your guide can provide recommendations for local flavors and how to get the best value. If you choose our upgrade, end your tour with a tasting of cured meats, premium cheeses, Catalan tomato bread, and wines, led by a professional sommelier. For guests under 18, soft drinks will be provided in place of wine.

What is the refund policy?

We get it — plans change. We offer a 100% refund up to 24 hours prior to the tour start time. We also offer rescheduling to another date the tour is running at no extra cost. Please keep in mind there are no refunds if you’ve already rescheduled your tour once.

When should I get there?

Plan to show up 15 minutes early. The tour starts promptly, and you may not be able to catch up if you arrive late.

What if it rains?

Our tours run rain or shine. If there’s extreme weather and we have to cancel, you’ll get a full refund.

Are gratuities included?

Tips are always appreciated but never expected. They’re a great way to tell your guide they did an awesome job and show your appreciation.

Highlights

More information

Begin your tour at the Boqueria Market, rated one of the top food markets in the world. You’ll be amazed at the sheer variety and quantity of fresh and prepared food available here. As your guide leads you through the patterned walkways, you’ll learn about Catalan food traditions and even taste traditional Catalan olives. Exiting the Boqueria Market, you will find yourself at the scenic Ramblas promenade. Itself a former market, famous for its flower sellers, Ramblas today is a wonderful place to soak up the ambiance and snap a few photos as you stroll past its open-air cafes, fragrant flower stands and the colorful Miró mosaic. Next, we’ll travel back in time to ancient Barcelona with a walk in the streets of the Gothic Quarter, full of antique stores and even an occasional antique market. Continue to the bustling Santa Caterina Market, the first covered market in Barcelona, with its undulating, brightly colored roof. Here you'll admire the ruins of an old medieval monastery. On your way to the last stop, we’ll also visit a local caganer shop to discover the story of one of Catalonia’s strangest traditions. Marvel at the monumental church of Santa Maria del Mar, where you’ll hear the intriguing stories of La Ribera neighborhood sailors. Your Barcelona markets tour ends at the sprawling Market of Born. Built as a market, this striking steel and glass structure now houses the remains of the Born neighborhood dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. If you’ve chosen the food and wine upgrade, your guide will escort you to a private location where you’ll savor a variety of cheeses, cured meats, classic Catalan tomato bread (pa amb tomàquet), and premium wines. Your onsite sommelier and guide will lead this culinary experience, sharing what makes each taste worth savoring.
