Begin your Barcelona architecture walking tour at the Sant Pau Recinte Modernista, designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, one of the fathers of Catalan modernism. You’ll marvel at this 27-building complex — the largest Art Nouveau site in the world, which once housed one of the most important hospitals in Barcelona, still in use right up to the late 1990s! We’ll stroll along Avinguda Gaudí to La Sagrada Familia, the symbol of Barcelona and the most famous church designed by Antonio Gaudí. Your tour guide will tell you all the secrets of the symbols embedded in the two facades as you view the lovely Sagrada Familia from all angles. Continue your beautiful Barcelona architecture walking tour in the Eixample neighborhood. You’ll admire beautiful houses such as Casa Macaya and Casa de les Punxes. Once in Passeig de Gràcia, famous for its high concentration of art nouveau and modernist buildings, your guide will show you the best historic buildings, including Casa Milá, Casa Batlió, and Casa Lleó Morera. You’ll even enter the modernist building, Casa Amatller, to learn about the Barcelona chocolate-making process that began in 1797. And you can, of course, try a try a taste! If you’ve upgraded to see inside one of Gaudí’s true masterpieces, Casa Batlló, you’ll head inside “the house of Barcelona” at the end of your tour. Your upgrade includes the Casa Batlló Golden Ticket, which gives you special access to the Batlló family residence and to an immersive experience taking you inside the genius of Gaudí’s mind. Plus you’ll have your own augmented reality tablet for the journey, making this visit even more engaging.
